Zenith El Primero A384 – Tropical Dial, Ladder Bracelet

Rare Zenith El Primero A384 with tropicalized panda dial, sharp 37 mm tonneau case, red chronograph hand, and Gay Frères-style ladder bracelet. Watch only.

A highly collectible Zenith El Primero A384, one of the most iconic early automatic chronographs, presented here with the especially desirable tropical dial configuration. Based on the original 1969 A384 design, the watch retains the reference’s signature 37 mm angular tonneau case with radial brushing across the top surfaces and polished bevels to the sides, giving it the sharp and athletic profile collectors look for in this model.

The dial preserves the classic A384 layout, with its crisp white base, applied baton markers, bright red central chronograph hand, and asymmetrical date window positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock. What distinguishes this example visually is the warm tropical effect of the registers and tachymeter ring, which have aged to an attractive chocolate-brown tone, echoing the rare vintage A384s prized by enthusiasts. The overall look is completed by the steel ladder bracelet, a defining period detail closely associated with the model.

Powered by the legendary El Primero automatic chronograph movement, the A384 represents one of the landmark designs of late-1960s watchmaking and remains one of Zenith’s most important vintage references. Offered as watch only, this example is an appealing choice for collectors seeking a charismatic and historically significant El Primero.
