Cartier Crash Skeleton
Reference CRWHCH0006
The Cartier Crash remains one of the most distinctive wristwatch designs of the 20th century. First introduced in London in 1967, produced exclusively in yellow gold and sold only through the Cartier boutique on Bond Street, its asymmetrical case challenged the conventions of classical watchmaking and became one of the maison’s most recognisable creations. Few shapes in modern horology carry such immediate visual identity.
The present example is a particularly appealing interpretation of that legacy. Reference CRWHCH0006 reimagines the Crash in an 18k pink gold case, paired with a skeletonised architecture that brings a further layer of technical and aesthetic complexity to the model. Rather than relying solely on form, this execution reveals the underlying mechanics of the watch, highlighting Cartier’s ability to merge jewellery, design and movement construction within one of its most unconventional cases.
This watch is number 64 of a limited edition of 67 pieces, a deliberate tribute to the year of the Crash’s original introduction. Housed in a 28 x 45 mm pink gold case, it is powered by a manual-winding movement and fitted with a skeletonised dial that emphasises the sculptural quality of the model’s elongated, distorted profile. The watch is further accompanied by an 18k pink gold Cartier deployant clasp.
Offered with its Cartier Certificate of Origin, Cartier certificate, magnifying glass, product literature, presentation box and outer packaging, this example represents a highly attractive opportunity to acquire one of Cartier’s most iconic modern re-editions in one of its most compelling configurations. Please note that the presentation box accompanying the watch may not be the original fitted box.
Part design object, part mechanical sculpture, the Crash Skeleton stands apart even within the wider Cartier canon. Produced in a very limited series of just 67 examples, it occupies a rare position at the intersection of historical significance, bold design and contemporary collectibility.
