A rare and highly attractive Omega steel chronograph from the 1940s, featuring a gilt black multi-scale dial with telemeter and tachymeter indications, 38 mm case, and the celebrated manual-winding calibre 33.3 CHRO.
A rare and highly attractive Omega steel chronograph from the 1940s, distinguished by its superb gilt multi-scale dial and powered by the celebrated manual-winding calibre 33.3 CHRO. Combining strong vintage presence, excellent chronograph pedigree, and the rich visual depth collectors seek in early Omega chronographs, this is a watch with genuine historical and connoisseur appeal.
The defining feature of the watch is its beautifully complex black dial, enhanced by gilt printing and fitted with both telemeter and tachymeter scales. The warm tone of the gilt indications against the dark dial gives the watch exceptional character, while the two-register chronograph layout, Arabic numerals, and elegant hands create the classic balance associated with the best pre- and post-war chronographs. The result is a dial that is not only highly functional, but also deeply atmospheric and unmistakably vintage.
Housed in a 38 mm stainless steel case, this example offers a highly desirable larger vintage chronograph proportion on the wrist. Inside is the renowned Omega calibre 33.3 CHRO, one of the most respected early chronograph movements produced by the brand and an important part of Omega’s chronograph history. With case number 9'977'748 and movement number 9'387'818, this watch represents a particularly appealing opportunity for collectors seeking a rare multi-scale Omega chronograph with strong period charm, technical interest, and enduring elegance.
