Audemars Piguet “Cobra” Ref. 5587BC – Blue Diamond Dial, 18K White Gold Bracelet Watch, Circa 1989

A very rare and highly collectible Audemars Piguet “Cobra” reference 5587BC in 18k white gold, featuring a deep blue dial with diamond-set hour markers, automatic movement, and the model’s iconic flexible integrated bracelet.

Offered here is a highly rare and exceptionally distinctive Audemars Piguet “Cobra,” reference 5587BC, a watch that perfectly captures the maison’s more sculptural and unconventional design spirit of the 1980s. Produced circa 1989, this remarkable 18k white gold example stands as one of the most characterful integrated-bracelet creations from Audemars Piguet, combining the refinement of precious metal watchmaking with a dramatic, jewelry-like presence on the wrist.

Nicknamed the “Cobra” by collectors, the present reference is admired for its extraordinary flexible bracelet construction, whose scale-like, woven appearance gives the watch its unmistakable identity. The design flows seamlessly from case to bracelet, creating a highly fluid silhouette that feels both luxurious and technically sophisticated. More than a conventional wristwatch, the Cobra is a complete design statement, and one of the most original forms ever produced by Audemars Piguet.

The defining feature of this example is its rich blue dial, elevated by diamond-set hour markers that lend the watch brilliance while preserving the elegant restraint of the overall design. The day display at 9 o’clock and date display at 3 o’clock provide practical functionality while maintaining a highly balanced and visually appealing layout. Against the cool tone of the white gold case and bracelet, the deep blue dial creates a striking contrast that gives this watch exceptional wrist presence.

Crafted entirely in 18k white gold, the 34 mm case is integrated into the matching Audemars Piguet bracelet, whose overall length is approximately 190 mm. The substantial feel of the white gold construction adds to the impression of quality and rarity that defines the best Cobra examples. According to the details provided, this watch is further accompanied by an Extract from the Archives, an especially desirable addition for collectors seeking documentation and historical confirmation.

Reference 5587BC has long been appreciated as one of the dressier and more luxurious members of Audemars Piguet’s vintage family of integrated-bracelet watches. Rare, visually unforgettable, and unmistakably of its era, the present watch is an outstanding opportunity for the collector seeking an important and highly original white gold Audemars Piguet.
