Rolex Submariner Date Ref. 16610LV “Kermit” – F-Serial, Full Set, 2004

A highly collectible Rolex Submariner Date reference 16610LV “Kermit,” offered as a full set from 2004 and distinguished by its early F-serial production, anniversary green bezel, Maxi dial, and classic five-digit proportions.

Offered here is the Rolex Submariner Date reference 16610LV, the celebrated “Kermit,” one of the most important and collectible modern Submariner references. Introduced in 2003 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Submariner, the 16610LV brought a bold new look to Rolex’s most iconic dive watch by pairing the classic black dial with a green aluminum bezel insert. Produced until 2010, it has since become one of the defining transitional Rolex sports watches of the modern era.

What makes the 16610LV especially appealing is its position as a true bridge reference. It retains the elegant proportions of the classic five-digit Submariner case while introducing the larger Maxi dial furniture later associated with more modern Rolex sports watches. The result is a watch that feels both vintage in character and contemporary in presence, combining the slimmer profile of earlier Submariners with improved visual impact and legibility.

This example is especially desirable as an early F-serial watch, placing it squarely in the sought-after initial production period from late 2003 to early 2004. Collectors pay particularly close attention to Kermits from this range, as they are associated with the earliest case and bezel traits of the anniversary model. Chief among these is the coveted Flat 4 bezel insert, identifiable by the broad, flat-topped inner aperture of the “4” in the bezel’s “40” marker, a detail fitted to the earliest 16610LV examples and one that can command a significant premium.

Just as importantly, early Kermits of this type belong to the non-engraved rehaut generation, predating the later inner rehaut engraved with repeated ROLEX text. Together, the early F-serial, the potential Flat 4 bezel, and the non-engraved rehaut make this one of the most compelling collector profiles within the 16610LV family.

Powered by the Rolex calibre 3135, one of the manufacture’s most respected automatic movements, the watch pairs proven reliability with an enduring tool-watch identity. Offered as a full set from 2004, this Submariner 16610LV represents an outstanding opportunity to acquire one of the most significant anniversary Rolex sports watches, with the added appeal of early-production collector detail.
