Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 3712 “3 Dots” – First Series, Full Set, Circa 2005
A historically important and highly collectible first-series Patek Philippe Nautilus reference 3712 in stainless steel, featuring the coveted “3 dots” power reserve display, moon phases, date, and original accessories.
Description
Offered here is a rare and historically important Patek Philippe Nautilus, reference 3712, one of the most coveted short-run modern references produced by the maison. Introduced in 2005 and discontinued after only around one year to make way for the closely related 5712, the 3712 has become one of the most desirable contemporary Nautilus references among collectors, admired for both its extreme rarity and its unusual, highly distinctive dial layout.
This example belongs to the especially sought-after first series, identifiable by the presence of three red dots in the power reserve indicator. Within the 3712 family, this detail carries particular importance, as later examples were produced with four dots, aligning more closely with the subsequent 5712. The first-series “3 dots” watches are therefore viewed as the purest and most historically significant execution of the reference.
The watch features the characteristic asymmetrical dial arrangement that has made the 3712 so distinctive, with an offset moon phase display, date, power reserve indicator, and small seconds. Another key identifying feature of the 3712 is the presence of the 7 o’clock hour marker, absent on the later 5712. These design details, together with the reference’s remarkably short production life, have firmly established the 3712 as one of the most collectible modern Patek Philippe sports watches.
Powering the watch is the automatic calibre 240/164, a beautifully finished micro-rotor movement and the first micro-rotor calibre ever used in a Nautilus. Its slim construction allowed the watch to remain elegant and refined despite its added complications. Complete with its original accessories and preserved in excellent overall condition, this first-series Nautilus 3712 “3 dots” presents an exceptional opportunity to acquire one of the rarest and most sought-after stainless steel Patek Philippe references of the modern era.
