Rolex Cellini “Stella” Ref. 4152 – 18K Yellow Gold, Red Dial and Enamel Bezel

An unusual vintage Rolex Cellini reference 4152 in 18k yellow gold, distinguished by its asymmetrical case, deep red dial, and red enamel bezel with gold Roman numerals. Fitted with a burgundy leather strap and an 18k gold Rolex buckle. Offered as watch only.

Offered here is a distinctive Rolex Cellini reference 4152, a striking departure from the manufacture’s more familiar round Oyster watches. Combining an asymmetrical gold case with a richly coloured dial and enamel bezel, this reference reflects the expressive approach to dress-watch design found within the vintage Cellini collection. Known here by the collector nickname “Stella,” it offers an unconventional interpretation of Rolex elegance.

The defining feature of the present watch is its sculptural case, whose angular outline incorporates a pronounced outward curve along one side. Crafted in 18k yellow gold, the case frames a broad red enamel bezel, punctuated by gold Roman numerals at the four principal positions. Fine gold borders separate the bezel from the dial, reinforcing the watch’s architectural character.

The dial is rendered in a deep burgundy-red tone, creating a subtle contrast with the brighter red surround. A gold Rolex coronet, restrained branding, and flowing Cellini signature preserve the simplicity of the display, while slender central hands indicate the hours and minutes. Without subsidiary indications or a date aperture, the composition allows the colour and case geometry to take centre stage.

Powered by a manually wound mechanical movement, the reference 4152 combines traditional dress-watch mechanics with an adventurous exterior. Documented examples measure approximately 27 × 28 mm and around 6 mm thick, giving the model compact proportions that complement its distinctive shape. The precise dimensions of the present example remain to be confirmed.

The watch is fitted with a burgundy crocodile-pattern leather strap, secured by an 18k gold Rolex buckle. This precious-metal finishing detail complements the yellow gold case, while the strap’s rich colour harmonizes with the dial and enamel bezel. The exact production year remains unconfirmed, with the reference documented in examples dating to the 1970s.

Offered as watch only, this Rolex Cellini reference 4152 is a compelling choice for collectors drawn to unusual case shapes, rich colour, and the less conventional side of vintage Rolex design. Its combination of sculptural gold construction, distinctive red presentation, and signed gold buckle gives it an individual character beyond the manufacture’s better-known models.
