Jaeger-LeCoultre Mystery Watch Ref. 17006 – 18K Yellow Gold, Floating Dial

A rare and highly distinctive Jaeger-LeCoultre Mystery watch from the 1970s, reference 17006, featuring a floating dial, ultra-thin manual movement, and sculptural 18k yellow gold case with integrated bracelet.

A highly collectible and visually striking Jaeger-LeCoultre Mystery Watch reference 17006, dating to the 1970s and embodying the bold, avant-garde design language of the period. Combining technical ingenuity with sculptural elegance, this is a watch that stands apart immediately for its unusual architecture, refined proportions, and unmistakable presence on the wrist.

The defining feature of the watch is its remarkable floating dial construction. The central timekeeping capsule, with its textured guilloché-style center, appears suspended within the outer case frame between transparent sapphire discs, concealing the mechanics and creating the illusion that the dial floats freely in space. This highly original presentation is further enhanced by the warm tone of the 18k yellow gold case, whose radiant brushed finish and softly rounded oval-cushion silhouette give the watch a rich and unmistakably 1970s identity.

Equally important is the model’s elegant crownless side profile, achieved through a discreet back-winding system integrated into the caseback side of the movement capsule. Powered by an ultra-thin manual-winding Jaeger-LeCoultre movement, frequently associated with calibre 430, the watch reflects the Maison’s long-standing expertise in both technical miniaturization and refined design. Fitted with its highly decorative integrated 18k yellow gold bracelet, this Mystery watch remains an especially compelling choice for collectors seeking an uncommon and imaginative vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre with strong aesthetic personality.
